PATTBERG MBT is your technical sourcing partner for special fasteners. We qualify and manage a network of German and European manufacturing companies — you get a single contracting partner, a single point of contact, and consistent documentation.
Standard fasteners don’t fit? We clarify material, geometry, surface finish and inspection requirements – from single units to series deliveries.
We source custom fasteners to customer drawing, sample or technical specification – including small batch sizes, special materials and coordinated inspection requirements. First-off samples are available on request prior to series start.

For a reliable quote, we need the technical drawing, the desired material, the quantity, the surface finish or coating, the strength class, the target delivery date and, if applicable, any inspection requirements. Preferred file formats are STEP/STP for 3D geometries, DXF for 2D drawings and PDF for overview and dimensional drawings. A sample part, a hand sketch or the designation of a standard to be modified are also sufficient as a starting point – we will work out the final specification together with your design engineering team. Don’t have a drawing or sketch yet? Get in touch anyway – we’re happy to get involved as early as the design phase and can support you with material selection, geometry and specification. If any information is missing, we’ll proactively contact you upon receipt rather than delaying the quote.
We manufacture from a quantity of 1 – including for prototypes, first samples and pre-series runs. Custom bolts are typically economical from batch sizes at which the setup costs for hot forming or machining are spread across the run; for very small quantities, we deliberately choose machining processes instead of forging tools. For recurring series requirements, tailored supply models (framework agreements, consignment call-offs) are available. If you are undecided between a standard bolt and a custom bolt, we can review both options within the same quotation on request.
For steel bolts, we cover strength classes 4.6 to 12.9 in accordance with DIN EN ISO 898-1; the first number represents one-hundredth of the minimum tensile strength (in N/mm²), and the second represents the ratio of yield strength to tensile strength. For stainless steel bolts, A2 (1.4301) and A4 (1.4401/1.4571) are part of our standard range – A4 whenever resistance to chloride or salt water is required. For high temperatures or aggressive media, we manufacture from duplex, Inconel and Hastelloy. Additional special alloys as well as materials to customer specification can be supplied on request – including the required material certificates.
Yes. We manufacture metric standard and fine-pitch threads, trapezoidal and round threads, inch and Whitworth threads, as well as custom threads to customer drawing. Available head forms include hexagon, hexagon socket, multi-spline socket, square, cylindrical with bore, cross-hole head and customer-specific special geometries. We select the manufacturing process based on size and material: hot forming up to M64 for solid forgings, headless bolts up to M500 as turned parts, smaller sizes cold- or hot-formed or machined depending on quantity. Combinations of multiple processing steps – e.g. forging plus machining as a secondary operation – are also covered through our partner network.
The standard for general indoor corrosion protection is electroplated zinc coating (blue, yellow or black passivated). For higher requirements, we recommend zinc-nickel plating (typically 480 h in salt spray testing per DIN EN ISO 9227) or zinc flake coatings such as Geomet or Delta-Tone, which are free of hydrogen embrittlement risk and suitable for high-strength bolts from grade 10.9 upward. Black oxide finishing is mainly used for tooling and machine screws with sliding surfaces. Friction-reducing coatings, defined friction coefficient classes per DIN EN ISO 16047, and special coatings (e.g. Dacromet, PTFE coatings) are available to customer specification.
Our quality assurance process begins before production: we check the drawing for technical feasibility and plausibility, qualify the manufacturing partner for the inquiry, and define the inspection requirements contractually. During production, we carry out production-accompanying sample inspections; upon goods receipt in Bochum, we check dimensions, hardness and surface condition. Depending on the project, we supply certificates in accordance with DIN EN 10204 at levels 2.1 (declaration of compliance with the order), 2.2 (test report) or 3.1 (inspection certificate with material analysis) – for safety-relevant components, also 3.2 with additional acceptance by an independent inspection body. Initial sample inspection reports (ISIR per VDA 2 or PPAP), batch-related traceability and declarations of conformity are standard. PATTBERG MBT has been certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 since 2008 and, additionally, to DIN EN ISO 14001 since 2024.
You will receive an initial technical response within 24 business hours – even if we still have questions regarding the specification. For complete inquiries, a concrete quote is typically provided within 2 to 5 business days, depending on complexity. More complex projects involving material selection, coating coordination or first-sample clarification generally require 5 to 10 business days. For urgent requests, please contact us directly by phone – we will check short-term options and, as a rule, provide a feasibility assessment the same day.
Send us your drawing, material and inspection requirements – we will get back to you with technical feedback.
